We are all very much aware of the health challenges we can face in our lifetime as women. Breast cancer is one of the big ones and it hardly seems like we need to be reminded about this as it is never far from our minds, year long. Here we are, October already and it is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Perhaps your season of life has changed and you are feeling like more information would be good so you can protect your breast health. Maybe, you or a close friend or loved one has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer so it’s time to pay closer attention. How do you help that friend who is battling cancer?

We have curated a list of resources for gleaning more information and support on breast cancer.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation has a brief quiz you can take and they will personalize breast cancer information for you, in a the form of an informational booklet. It’s all free! They have also listed different programs for women who need help paying for mammograms, who are starting breast cancer treatment and a host of other resources. Plan to spend some time on their website, they have wonderful, informative help there.

Over on, you can access resources on all things related to breast health, but also breast reconstruction. Breast cancer is a complicated health issue with many different facets we often don’t consider until we are faced with it.

Are you facing a breast cancer diagnosis and need financial help? Start with the Komen foundation.

Cancer Care offers inspirational videos of women in varying stages of breast cancer. Their stories can offer you hope! They can help you find counseling resources, financial help or support groups. Networking and knowing the resources available can help you gather strength in this journey.

The University of Utah and Huntsman Cancer Center are in own backyard and offer some great resources and research. They have a series called ‘Talks with Docs’ where you can hear from one of the top breast cancer surgeons.

Did you know there has been a recall on some breast implants? Breast health is vital to preventing breast cancer, so it’s a great time to educate ourselves.
