Young Adults And Their Health

Sep 2, 2024 | Uncategorized

Young adults, the typical 20 something, experience a unique set of health challenges as they navigate the transition from adolescence to adulthood. It’s not un-common for a young woman to experience physical and mental health issues, especially in their new world of adulting that comes with high cost. There is a new importance to making healthy lifestyle choices, accessing healthcare services, developing strategies for promoting well-being, and the impact of technology on health behaviors, and emerging trends in young adult healthcare. Understanding and addressing the health needs of young adults is crucial for promoting a healthy future generation.
Your health in your 20s might not be a top priority when there are Netflix binges to conquer and late-night Taco Bell runs to conquer, but it sets the tone for your future wellbeing. Building healthy habits now can set you on a healthy path for future success.

Here are some common challenges for our young people.

  1. Anxiety and depression. Feeling the adult responsibilities can be extra challenging and overwhelming. If you are feeling these things, it is important to visit with your healthcare provider. A blog article does not hold the answers to anxiety and depression. Seek help.
  2. Eating disorders are increasing in frequency among young adults. Many eating disorders stem from the need to control and environment that is out of control. Again, seek medical help from a trusted healthcare provider.
  3. Increased alcohol and drug use. What may have started out as an experiment or social activity can spiral out of control. Neither alcohol or drugs are good for anyone, don’t start and if you already use substances, consider changing your ways. It will help a lot with better health down the road.
  4. Make sure you have access to good healthcare. Going without is a recipe for disaster.
  5. Make time for exercise. The sooner you can establish good, healthy routines, the easier it will be to maintain them throughout your adult life.

If you are a young woman, it’s likely that somewhere down the road, you will have a desire to start a family. Now, is when your health counts towards a successful pregnancy. It may not seem like that, but truly, that is the case.
